The 120 Minute Men Story
120 Minute Boys, 1990.
Dave and Matt have been friends since meeting in 6th Grade. They shared a common passion for Raiders of the Lost Ark, the Commodore 64, and goofy stories. As they grew, they both discovered a love for music, performing in musicals, the school choir, and talent shows.
In the summer of 1989, Matt discovered the MTV show "120 Minutes" hosted by Dave Kendall. He introduced it to Dave, and their lives would never be the same. Lollapalooza festivals, late Thursday nights at Top Of The Rock all-ages dance club in Grand Rapids, and of course, playing the music we loved. Early repertoire for Matt and Dave included No New Tale To Tell by Love and Rockets, Just Like Heaven by The Cure, and This Monkey's Gone To Heaven by The Pixies.
Matt went on to tour throughout the country with bands like Karmic and Domestic Problems. Dave found a teaching job, and started a family. Despite living in different cities all their adult lives, Dave and Matt played together whenever they could. Finally, in 2010, they decided that the time had come to form a band and share their love for classic alternative music with audiences everywhere.
